Yunnan Sister-School Exchange & Study Tour – Day 1: Wetland Wonders & Ancient Town Adventures!
To deepen students’ understanding of China’s ecological conservation and cutting-edge technology, 21 teachers and students embarked on a study tour to Yunnan from April 23–28. On Day 1, we landed in Kunming and dived straight into nature and history!
Dianchi Wetland Park
By Dianchi Lake, we explored the wetland’s rich biodiversity and conservation efforts, immersing in the serenity of this “Plateau Pearl.”
Guandu Ancient Town
We stepped back in time at Guandu, a 1,000-year-old town brimming with cultural heritage. The highlight? Savouring Yunnan’s iconic “Crossing the Bridge” rice noodles—a symphony of flavours that carries centuries of culinary wisdom!

Strengthening Sister-School Ties
We visited Luquan No.1 Middle School and began an enriching cultural exchange.
Ethnic Music Class
Teachers and students performed vibrant folk dances and songs in traditional costumes.
Both schools danced hand-in-hand and sang “My Motherland and Me” together, filling the hall with unity and emotion.
Calligraphy Class
We traced the evolution of Chinese characters from ancient oracle bone script to standard script.
Luquan students and teachers presented us with hand-written calligraphy as treasured gifts for our school.
Fuxian Lake Solar Observatory (FSO)
We got up close with China’s largest 1-meter infrared solar telescope.
Scientists shared how they observe and study sunspots, solar flares, and other solar phenomena.
Fuxian Lake Astronomy Museum
Explored the history of humanity’s journey to the stars and the evolution of telescopes.
Joined a DIY telescope workshop, where everyone built their own telescope to bring home.
Today, through the blend of ethnic culture and astronomical technology, we gained friendship, knowledge, and a newfound passion for exploring our world!
Yunnan Sister-School Exchange & Study Tour – Day 3 & 4: Discovering Bai Culture in Dali Ancient Town
Dali Ancient Town Cultural Exploration
We strolled through Dali Old Town, admired its iconic architecture, and delved into the rich history of the Dali Kingdom.
Cycling by Erhai Lake
We cycled around Erhai Lake, took in its stunning natural scenery, and reflected on the importance of environmental protection.
Xizhou Ancient Town & Intangible Heritage
We learned Bai intangible heritage skills like traditional tie-dye, exploring the cultural essence of “wind, flower, snow, and moon.”
We experienced the traditional Three-Course Tea—bitter, sweet, and lingering—reflecting on life’s lessons and gratitude.
From the poetic “wind, flower, snow, and moon” to the warm hospitality of the Bai people, Dali inspired us with unforgettable memories and the beauty of ethnic culture!
Yunnan Sister-School Exchange & Study Tour – Day 5: Wildlife Encounters & Colorful Yunnan Adventure!
Yunnan Wild Animal Park
We visited one of China’s largest wildlife parks and observed rare animals from around the world, such as giant pandas, Asian elephants, golden monkeys, and giraffes. The park is designed with natural habitats and themed zones, allowing animals to live in environments close to nature. We enjoyed close-up animal encounters and learned about wildlife conservation and ecology through engaging exhibits and interactive activities.
Colorful Yunnan Paradise: “Flying Over Yunnan”
Next, we explored Colorful Yunnan Paradise, a theme park that blends ancient Dian culture, ethnic traditions, and stunning natural scenery. Through the spectacular show “The Dian Kingdom Chronicle,” we experienced the prosperity and history of the Dian Kingdom. The immersive “Flying Over Yunnan” attraction and vibrant ethnic dance performances allowed us to truly appreciate Yunnan’s rich cultural diversity and dynamic spirit.
Today, our adventures in the wildlife park and cultural theme park brought us both knowledge and wonder—a perfect blend of nature and culture!

Morning Tribute at Nie Er’s Memorial
This morning, at the foot of Western Hills by Dian Lake, we experienced a moving moment of patriotic education.
Visiting Nie Er’s Tomb
We visited the tomb of Nie Er, learning about the life and achievements of this remarkable musician and patriot.
Students were touched by his musical genius and deep love for the nation, truly appreciating his contributions. Through the flower offering and singing the national anthem together, we honored this national hero.
The solemn atmosphere, with the Western Hills in the distance, inspired us to cherish our present and carry forward the patriotic spirit.
Honoring our ancestors and inheriting their spirit—our love for our country shines ever brighter!
